The Artisan Winds Flute Trio consisting of Brigitte Chase, Cathy Vandendoel, and Cynthia Ferguson graced us with an array of eleven beautiful bird-themed songs and bird-inspired artwork that consisted of watercolor birds on antique sheet music, handspun knitted birds, exquisite paper feathers and bird-related painted rocks.  Displayed along with the music, was a slideshow of local bird photography by Debbie Henry as well as some historical bird artwork. The sound acoustics and atmosphere of First Presbyterian Church of Roseburg added to the amazing experience that all of us present experienced.  All proceeds from the concert and sale of artwork went to benefit Umpqua Valley Audubon Society.

A quote from musician Cynthia Ferguson the day after the concert sums it up well, “Personally, it renewed my confidence after being retired and out of the performance mode for at least 15 years. I had forgotten how much joy I received from the audience when sharing my music and the connection with everyone was just amazing. The energy exchange in the room was palpable!”

Thank you Artisan Winds for envisioning and creating this wonderful event.  It was such a gift of time, talent and kindness to our organization and to all people fortunate enough to be there. And, thank you audience members, for your generous contributions. These proceeds will be used toward the Swift Watch kids’ art program and child-size binoculars and/or bird books for our fledgling (pun intended!) birding outreach program in the schools.
